COURSE CURRICULUM

The New Zealand Diploma in Healthcare Management is a 120-credit program designed to prepare students for leadership roles within the healthcare sector. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience to ensure graduates are ready to manage teams, improve service delivery, and navigate the complexities of healthcare environments. Key areas of study include Health Services Management and Policy, which explores how healthcare systems operate and are governed; Support Planning for Geriatric and Mental Health Conditions, which focuses on the unique needs of aging populations and individuals experiencing mental health issues; and Operations, Quality, and Risk Management, where students learn to ensure healthcare services run efficiently, safely, and in line with regulatory standards.A distinctive feature of the program is the Related Learning Experience, an eight-week industry placement completed in the final term. This placement is carefully selected to enhance the student’s learning journey and provide valuable real-world experience in a healthcare setting. It allows students to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout the program while building professional networks and gaining insight into the day-to-day challenges of healthcare management. The placement bridges the gap between theory and practice, ensuring graduates are not only well-versed in healthcare management principles but also confident in their ability to lead in real-world situations.By the end of the diploma, students are equipped to step into a variety of roles within the healthcare sector, such as care facility managers, team leaders, or coordinators within hospitals, community health services, or aged care facilities. The program is ideal for individuals already working in healthcare who want to move into management, as well as those entering the sector with the goal of making a positive impact through leadership and service delivery.
