COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Arts (Film Production) program is structured over three years, with each year focusing on building both theoretical understanding and practical skills essential to filmmaking. In the first year, students are introduced to foundational concepts through courses such as Philosophy and Psychology, which explore human behavior and thought processes, and Sociology and Media Studies, which examine the relationship between society and media. These are complemented by Art History and Constructing Digital Images, offering insights into visual composition and digital image creation, alongside a Production Project that provides hands-on experience in film creation.The second year deepens analytical and creative thinking. Anthropology broadens students’ understanding of cultures and human interaction, vital for authentic storytelling. Courses in Critical Thinking and Problem Solving encourage analytical reasoning and creative solutions, essential for navigating challenges in film production. Cinematic Storytelling I and II focus on developing narrative skills, visual storytelling techniques, and scriptwriting, enabling students to craft engaging and coherent cinematic narratives.In the final year, students refine their creative vision and prepare for professional practice. Project Ideation and Project Pre-Production guide students in conceptualizing and planning a film project. The program concludes with a choice between a Film Capstone Internship, offering industry experience, or a Film Capstone Project, allowing students to create a substantial original work. This final phase integrates all the skills acquired throughout the degree, preparing graduates for a range of roles in the film and media industry.
