COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport Business Management program offers a dynamic combination of academic study, practical application, research, and hands-on industry experience through placements, preparing students for successful careers in the fast-growing sports industry. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of sports business management, including sports policy, finance, economics, and the organisation of sports events, helping them develop commercial awareness and essential business skills. Core modules include Introduction to Sports Business Management, Finance for Sports Management, Sports Customer, and The Global Sports Industry and Media. In the second year, students build project management and leadership skills while learning about people management, politics, and policy in sport. This year also includes professional placements in sports business organisations, allowing students to gain real-world experience and personal development. Modules include Understanding and Managing People in Sports Business and Reflective Practice in Sports Business Management. In the final year, students focus on strategic aspects of sports business, including marketing, strategic change, and sports law and regulation. They also complete a dissertation and can choose optional modules such as Sports Tourism, Event Design, and Community Sport Development. Through this balanced approach, students gain valuable knowledge, practical experience, and research skills needed to succeed in sports management, marketing, event planning, and related business roles worldwide.
