COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Sustainability Management requires 36 credit hours, structured to provide students with both theoretical foundations and practical applications in sustainable business practices. The program begins with core courses such as Introduction to Sustainability Management and Sustainability Leadership for People, Planet, and Profit, establishing the principles of sustainable development. Students then explore specialized areas including Sustainable Design and Operations Management, Strategy and Decision Making, Circular Economy, and Law and Governance on Sustainability, which together build a comprehensive understanding of how organizations can integrate sustainability into their operations and long-term planning. Courses such as ESG Practices in the Market and Sustainability in Action emphasize the application of sustainability principles in real-world business contexts. The curriculum also integrates key business and environmental knowledge through courses like Basic Finance for Managers, Corporate Responsibility and Society, and Waste Management and Pollution Control, ensuring students develop cross-disciplinary expertise. In addition to these required courses, students complete one elective, chosen either from the Walker Business School or the Environmental Management program. For students without an accredited business degree, Business must be taken as the elective. Overall, the program prepares graduates to lead sustainability initiatives and develop impactful strategies across diverse industries.
