UE Amsterdam – University of Applied Sciences Europe, formerly known as Inter College Business School, is a private business education institution in Amsterdam that has specialised in practical, entrepreneurship-focused business administration training since 1979. Founded by Anton Dreesmann, the school was created to address the need for well-trained professionals for his retail business and initially focused on hospitality education before expanding into broader business studies in the early 1980s. The university is built on an entrepreneurial philosophy that encourages students to take initiative, manage real business projects, and develop practical skills by learning directly from industry professionals and entrepreneurs. Students are actively involved in hands-on learning experiences, from project initiation to completion, while also building strong professional networks with alumni and business leaders. The institution operates from a historic building that previously served as educational facilities, reflecting its long-standing academic presence in Amsterdam. Over time, UE Amsterdam became part of various educational networks, including Luzac, and was later acquired in 2014 by a group of entrepreneurs aiming to modernise its business-focused curriculum. In 2019, it joined Global University Systems (GUS), an international network of higher education institutions offering globally recognised programmes. Today, UE Amsterdam continues to focus on practice-oriented business education designed “by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs,” preparing students for real-world challenges in dynamic global business environments.
