COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physics and Business Studies master’s specialisation at Leiden University is a two-year program worth 120 European Credit Transfer System (EC) points. The first year focuses on a physics component, comprising compulsory courses (15 EC), a research project (36 EC), and electives (9 EC), totaling 60 to 80 EC. The second year is dedicated to the business component, which includes management courses (15 EC), business research methods (5 EC), business electives (up to 20 EC), and a management internship (20–40 EC), totaling 40 to 60 EC. The program combines rigorous physics research with practical business training to prepare students for leadership roles in research-intensive and high-tech organisations. Educational methods include lectures, seminars, colloquia, lab work, work groups, research projects, presentations, individual papers, and internships, ensuring both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
