COURSE CURRICULUM

The curriculum of the Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology specialisation is structured to provide a balance of advanced coursework, research experience, and skill development. Students begin with the Specialisation Orientation Course (2 EC), which introduces them to the field and provides guidance on planning their academic trajectory. They also follow courses such as Advanced Statistics (4 EC) and Genomic Architecture (6 EC), which equip them with essential analytical and theoretical knowledge.In addition, students complete compulsory specialisation courses (6–12 EC) that deepen their expertise in molecular genetics and biotechnology, alongside a wide range of elective courses (9–42 EC) that allow for further personalisation of their study path. A key feature of the program is the extensive research project (60–90 EC), where students gain hands-on experience working on cutting-edge biological problems in a laboratory setting.Educational methods are diverse and designed to foster independent thinking, scientific communication, and practical skills. These include colloquia, lectures, lab work, research projects, individual papers, presentations, seminars, and work group activities. Together, they ensure students not only develop a solid theoretical foundation but also acquire practical research skills and the ability to work effectively in collaborative and interdisciplinary environments.
