COURSE CURRICULUM

The two-year Creative Intelligence & Technology MSc program, formerly known as Media Technology, provides an interdisciplinary and international environment where students explore the intersection of creativity, technology, and scientific research. The program is designed for students eager to combine curiosity-driven research with practical applications, preparing them for careers in academia, industry, creative sectors, and education.The curriculum consists of 120 European Credit Transfer System (EC) points, structured around compulsory courses, accent and elective courses, a public exhibition project, and a Graduation Research Project. The compulsory courses (50 EC) are organized into four main pillars. The first pillar, academic skills and being a scientist, includes Research Fundamentals, Playful & Creative Science, Science & Humanities, and Portfolio development. The second pillar focuses on conceptual skills and media, with courses such as Field Trips (including visits to international events like the Ars Electronica Festival), Strategies for Creative & Performing Arts, Meta Media, and Artificial Creatures. The third pillar develops technical skills and computing, covering Creative Programming and Hardware & Physical Computing. The fourth pillar addresses the human context of technology, including Human-Computer Interaction & Information Visualisation, Sound, Space & Interaction, and Non-Human Cognition.Accent and elective courses (28 EC) allow students to tailor their program to their personal interests and research focus. The public exhibition project (12 EC) offers an opportunity to showcase creative and technical work to a wider audience, while the Graduation Research Project (30 EC) provides hands-on experience in conducting independent research under supervision.Educational methods are diverse and include lectures, work groups, individual and group assignments, presentations, research proposals, projects, excursions, and exhibition activities. This combination ensures that students develop conceptual, technical, and human-centered skills while engaging in creative and scientific inquiry. By the end of the program, graduates are equipped to combine innovative thinking with rigorous research, bridging the gap between science, technology, and society.
