COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science and Business Studies specialisation is a two-year master’s program that combines in-depth research in computer science with advanced training in management and entrepreneurship. The program amounts to 120 European Credit Transfer System (EC) points and is carefully structured to balance technical and business education. Students complete a computer science component of 60 to 80 EC and a business component of 40 to 60 EC, ensuring a strong foundation in both disciplines.Within the computer science component, students take 22 EC of core courses in Computer Science and Business Studies, supplemented by 16 to 36 EC of electives that can be chosen from computer science or interdisciplinary offerings. A key element is the Master’s Thesis Research Project, worth 22 EC, which is combined with the Business Studies internship to create an integrated academic and practical experience. The business component consists of 15 EC in core business courses, 5 EC in business research methods, 0 to 20 EC of electives, and a 20 EC internship, also linked to the thesis project. This structure ensures that students not only engage with advanced research but also develop practical skills relevant to industry and organisational contexts.To succeed in this program, students are expected to bring prior knowledge and skills. These include solid experience in software engineering, programming proficiency in Python, statistical knowledge, a basic understanding of artificial intelligence, and academic competencies such as reading, writing, and using LaTeX. Strong English communication skills, an independent research attitude, and a genuine interest in management and organisational dynamics are also essential.The program uses a variety of educational methods, including lectures, working groups, literature studies, case studies, presentations, and both individual and group assignments. A key feature is the internship, which provides practical exposure and bridges the gap between academic research and real-world applications in organisations.
