COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Organisation specialisation provides students with in-depth knowledge of how norms, rules, and international institutions shape global governance and interactions between states, non-state actors, and transnational organisations. The program combines theoretical and practical training, guiding students through key concepts in policy-making, evaluation, and political science research methods while developing professional and academic skills.Core courses include Dynamics of International Organisation, which examines why and how formal and informal international organisations emerge, their impact on state behaviour, and their role in addressing economic, security, humanitarian, and environmental challenges. The Politics of Policy-Making course explores how policies are formulated at both national and international levels, highlighting the roles of state actors, interest groups, public opinion, and experts in shaping governance. Policy Evaluation in National and International Contexts trains students to assess policy needs, implementation, and impact while understanding the pressures and interests that influence decision-making. Additional courses such as Great Debates in Political Science and Methods in Political Science further strengthen students’ critical thinking, research design, and analytical capabilities.A major component of the program is the Thesis Seminar, which allows students to deepen their understanding of theories and methods in political science while applying them to research topics related to international organisations. The curriculum also provides the opportunity to undertake an internship between January and March, during which students conduct research in a professional setting relevant to international governance. The findings from the internship can be integrated into the master’s thesis through the Internship Research Project Seminar, offering practical experience alongside academic development.The program emphasises active participation, independent research, and close supervision, ensuring students acquire the knowledge and skills required to analyse, evaluate, and influence international governance processes. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in international organisations, governmental agencies, non-governmental organisations, research institutes, and consultancy, equipped to contribute to policy-making, evaluation, and strategic planning in a global context.
