COURSE CURRICULUM

The master’s program in Public International Law with a focus on Peace, Justice and Development equips students with advanced knowledge and skills to navigate the interrelated branches of international law that affect global peace, justice, and development. The curriculum combines the study of academic literature, international legal instruments, and jurisprudence to provide a comprehensive understanding of the field. Students are trained to integrate different areas of public international law and to formulate independent, well-reasoned opinions on legal questions relating to war, peace, and justice, both in substantive and procedural terms.Educational methods include seminars, typically two to three hours long, held multiple times per week, complemented by opportunities to participate in conferences, workshops, field trips, and internships. This combination of theoretical and practical engagement ensures that students gain both analytical skills and real-world insights. The program culminates in a master’s thesis, allowing students to explore a specific topic in depth under the supervision of academic staff.Student support is an integral part of the program. The program coordinator serves as the main point of contact for academic and practical guidance, while additional support is provided through study and career workshops, access to the Law School Career Advisor, and alumni guidance via career cafés. This holistic approach ensures that students are well-prepared for careers in international courts, tribunals, governmental and non-governmental organizations, or further academic research, while fostering a strong understanding of the legal frameworks that underpin global peace, justice, and development.
