COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advanced LL.M. in Air and Space Law at Leiden University combines rigorous academic training with practical experience, designed for students and professionals seeking specialised expertise in aviation and space law. Teaching takes place in small, seminar-style classes that encourage active participation, guided by expert faculty from the International Institute of Air and Space Law, visiting international professors, and distinguished legal practitioners.Students develop professional skills through presentations and participation in a moot court competition, which provides training in legal research, analysis, writing, pleading, and oral advocacy. This hands-on approach allows students to simulate real-world legal proceedings, preparing them for careers in law firms, government agencies, international organisations, and commercial enterprises in aviation and space sectors.After completing coursework, students undertake a 6-8 week internship in an institution dealing with air or space law, often internationally. This practical experience provides insights into professional practice and enhances career prospects. The program concludes with a thesis, enabling students to apply their knowledge and conduct in-depth research on a specialised topic in air or space law.For flexibility, the program is also offered as a blended learning option, combining distance learning with face-to-face sessions. This allows participants to pursue the LL.M. alongside employment or other commitments while maintaining academic standards and practical engagement.
