COURSE CURRICULUM

The Financial Economics master's program consists of seven core courses, a seminar in Financial Case Studies, and a master’s thesis. The core courses focus either on econometric methods, such as time series models, Bayesian techniques, and machine learning, or on specific areas of finance, including Asset Pricing, Derivatives, Risk Management, and Portfolio Management. Each course includes empirical assignments, providing students with hands-on experience in applying quantitative and econometric techniques to real financial problems.The Financial Case Studies seminar is a two-month intensive group project in which students conduct applied research from start to finish. The projects are provided by companies in the financial sector, and both faculty and industry representatives actively supervise the work, ensuring that students gain practical insights and professional experience.The master’s thesis can be either theoretically or practically oriented. Practically oriented theses are often combined with an internship or traineeship, giving students the opportunity to further integrate academic knowledge with professional practice.The curriculum is structured as follows: 35% of the program is devoted to Asset and Derivative Pricing, 15% to Risk Management, 15% to Portfolio Management, and 35% to Econometrics. This distribution ensures that students acquire a strong balance of financial theory, quantitative methods, and applied analytical skills, preparing them for careers in investment management, risk analysis, financial consulting, or further academic research.
