COURSE CURRICULUM

This specialisation in International Economics and Business offers a challenging, practice-oriented program that combines academic depth with hands-on learning. Structured across five blocks of eight weeks each, the program consists of core courses, electives, seminars, and a master’s thesis. Together, these components provide students with a strong foundation in international economics and business studies, while also allowing them to tailor their learning experience to their specific interests and career ambitions.The program begins with core courses and electives designed to familiarise students with essential topics in international economics. Students will explore the progressive integration of goods, labour, and capital markets, as well as the decline of national barriers. They will also gain a deep understanding of the economic forces driving the increased interdependence of nations. Elective courses provide the opportunity to specialise in areas such as empirical international trade, the so-called new trade theories, instruments of trade policies, and international financial markets. These courses encourage students to make the most of the wide variety of topics on offer, equipping them with the ability to allocate resources efficiently, organise businesses effectively, and make evidence-based recommendations.Seminars form an integral part of the program, fostering active engagement and critical thinking. In these interactive sessions, students are expected to take an active role by presenting literature or case studies, posing questions, expressing doubts, and sharing their perspectives during class discussions. The seminars serve as an ideal environment for applying theoretical knowledge to real-world problems and developing the communication and analytical skills essential for international business and policy-making.The final stage of the program is dedicated to the master’s thesis. Conducted under close supervision by a faculty member, the thesis allows students to independently investigate a topic of their choice within the field, applying the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the program.The curriculum is carefully structured to balance different aspects of learning: 33% theory and empirics of international economics, 33% electives, and 33% seminars. This blend ensures that graduates emerge with a comprehensive understanding of international economics and the practical skills required to succeed in academia, business, or policy-oriented careers.
