COURSE CURRICULUM

The master’s program in Health Economics, Policy & Law (HEPL) is designed to train students to become highly skilled professionals capable of contributing to the improvement of healthcare systems and shaping effective health policy. The core objective is to equip graduates with strong analytical abilities and conceptual knowledge, enabling them to understand and address the complexities of healthcare systems. A distinctive feature of the program is its multidisciplinary approach: students can either pursue the Health Economics specialization, focusing on advanced economic analyses, or follow the HEPL track, which integrates economics, policy science, and legal perspectives to tackle policy issues in a broader context.The program is a full-time, intensive course of study that runs for 12 months and carries a total workload of 60 European Credits (EC). It consists of six compulsory courses, two elective courses, and a thesis, with the latter carrying 20 EC. Courses are organized into five blocks of six weeks each, with students typically engaging in two courses per block. This structure ensures both depth and breadth of learning while maintaining a steady pace of academic progress.Compulsory courses include Economics and Financing of Health Care Systems, Advanced Research Methods, Economics of Health and Health Care, Health Technology Assessment, International Health Law, and Comparative Health Policy. From blocks four and five, students have the opportunity to choose electives worth at least 10 EC, allowing them to tailor the program to align with their academic and career interests.In addition, all students are enrolled in the extracurricular “Master your Master” (MyM) program. This initiative supports students in identifying personal interests, setting goals, choosing suitable electives, and defining a thesis topic. MyM empowers students to take ownership of their learning journey, ensuring their master’s experience is not only academically rigorous but also personally meaningful. The program does not offer a part-time option, emphasizing its intensive and immersive nature.
