COURSE CURRICULUM

The master’s program in Health Care Management is a 60-credit curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for managerial roles in healthcare. The program includes seven compulsory courses, each worth 5 EC, one elective course, and a 20 EC master thesis completed in the final stage. The full-time track spans 12 months with an average study load of 40 hours per week, running from September to July. Students may use the summer period to complete or defend their thesis or resit any courses. The part-time program takes 24 months, with an average study load of 20 hours per week. Plenary sessions are conducted in English, workgroups in Dutch, and students may answer examinations in English or Dutch. Courses are scheduled on Fridays. The curriculum is structured into six blocks: Block 1 covers Person Centered Care Delivery and Advanced Research Methods; Block 2 focuses on Organisational Behaviour and Quality and Safety; Block 3 includes Capacity & Process Management and Governance & Strategy; Blocks 4 to 6 allow students to follow elective tracks and complete the master thesis. The program combines theoretical foundations with practical applications, preparing students to manage complex healthcare systems effectively while fostering research, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
