COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sustainable Business master’s curriculum combines core courses, electives, and a thesis to provide a thorough grounding in both theory and practice. Core courses introduce students to essential concepts such as business sustainability, social-ecological systems, global business strategies, sustainability ethics, sustainable behaviour, and research methodology. These courses equip students with the analytical and practical tools needed to understand complex sustainability challenges, develop effective strategies, and critically evaluate business practices in relation to social and environmental impact. Students also focus on personal and professional development through courses like Personal Career Narrative, which helps them reflect on their goals and build a roadmap for their careers. Electives allow students to specialise further and explore specific topics, including circular economy, sustainable business models, climate change strategy roleplay, social entrepreneurship, sustainability accounting and reporting, impact investing, and organisation-based research projects. These electives provide hands-on experience and opportunities to engage with real-world problems, bridging academic knowledge with practical applications. The program culminates in a thesis, where students independently investigate a sustainability-related issue, applying both qualitative and quantitative research methods under academic supervision. Through this structure, the master’s program develops students’ ability to analyse, design, and implement sustainability initiatives, while also preparing them for leadership roles in business, governmental, or non-profit sectors. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills and offering flexibility through electives, the program ensures that graduates are well-equipped to address current and future challenges in sustainable business and to make meaningful contributions to organisational and societal transformation.
