COURSE CURRICULUM

The curriculum of the master’s program in Forensic and Legal Psychology comprises four core courses, internships, and elective options tailored to students’ career interests. The core courses are Psychology of Evidence, Forensic Mental Health and Criminal Behaviour, Assessing Risk and Treatment Outcome, and Forensic Neuroscience. These courses explore the psychological and neuroscientific aspects of crime, addressing how mental processes influence criminal behaviour, risk assessment, and treatment outcomes. Beyond the core courses, students can select electives aligned with their interests to deepen their knowledge in specific areas of forensic or legal psychology. In the second semester, students aiming for a career in forensic or neuropsychology undertake both a research and a practical internship, gaining hands-on experience in applied forensic settings. Students specialising in legal psychology complete a research internship alongside a moot court assignment, which allows them to practice legal psychological research and prepare professional reports. The program also offers opportunities for research thesis projects in areas such as deceptive behaviour in psychopathy, neuroscience of antisocial behaviour, or the validity and reliability of eyewitness testimony. This curriculum ensures that graduates are well-prepared for both professional practice and academic research, equipping them with the skills to critically assess evidence, apply psychological principles to legal contexts, and contribute to the advancement of forensic and legal psychology.
