COURSE CURRICULUM

The study schedule for the MSc specialisation in Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship is structured across four terms, carefully designed to combine theoretical insights, practical applications, and independent research. In the first term, students are introduced to foundational perspectives through three thematic seminars: Cultural Economics: Theory, which provides the economic framework for analysing cultural value and markets; Cultural Organizations, which examines the functioning, management, and governance of cultural institutions; and Cultural Entrepreneurship: Theory, which focuses on entrepreneurial practices and innovation in cultural and creative industries. Alongside these seminars, students begin the Master Thesis Class, a continuous component of the program that supports them in developing and refining their research ideas. The second term deepens the engagement with contemporary issues in the cultural sector through a Research Seminar and the thematic seminar Innovation and Cultural Industries, where students explore how technological and creative innovations are shaping the sector globally. The Master Thesis Class continues into this term, ensuring that students steadily progress on their thesis project. In the third term, students have the opportunity to tailor their learning by selecting two electives out of a range of eight courses. This flexibility allows them to pursue topics aligned with their personal interests and career goals while also formally starting their master thesis research. Finally, the fourth term is dedicated entirely to completing the master thesis, where students demonstrate their ability to conduct independent research and contribute original insights into cultural economics and entrepreneurship. This progression through structured seminars, research training, electives, and thesis work ensures that graduates leave the program with a robust understanding of cultural and creative industries, as well as the skills to navigate and influence their future development.
