COURSE CURRICULUM

The Maritime and Transport Law master’s program is structured across five blocks, combining foundational courses, specialised subjects, electives, and a master thesis.In Block 1, students begin with the Research and Writing Skills course, which focuses on developing essential competencies for legal research, writing, and presentation in the maritime and transport law context. Block 2 covers the Law of the Sea and Transport Law, providing a comprehensive understanding of international maritime regulations, shipping practices, and the legal frameworks governing the transportation of goods.Block 3 focuses on Maritime Casualties, examining the legal implications and risk management of accidents, damages, and liabilities at sea. Block 4 includes courses on Charter Parties and Bills of Lading, essential components of shipping contracts, and also allows students to choose a free elective to tailor their studies according to their interests.In Block 5, students study Marine Insurance, exploring the legal principles and practical applications of insuring ships, cargo, and associated liabilities. An additional elective, Capita Selecta Trademark Law, may also be taken. The program culminates with the master thesis, in which students conduct independent research under supervision, integrating the knowledge and skills gained throughout the program.Overall, the curriculum equips students with both theoretical expertise and practical competencies, preparing them for careers as legal practitioners, in-house counsel, or consultants in the maritime and transport sectors.
