The LL.M. in International Business Law provides students with a thorough understanding of the legal frameworks that shape international commercial transactions, with a strong focus on the private law dimension. Following the initial Research and Writing Skills module, the program begins with an in-depth exploration of Commercial Contracts. Here, students study the core agreements underpinning international trade, such as contracts for the purchase of goods and services, alongside important ancillary contracts like commercial agency agreements, distribution arrangements, licensing, and franchising. Since payment in cross-border transactions is often complex, the Trade Finance Law course examines the legal aspects of securing payment and managing related risks in an international setting.The program then turns to the practical challenges of managing risks and liabilities in global trade. Students gain expertise in the use of insurance contracts to mitigate risks, as well as in the legal dimensions of transportation. The Contracts of Carriage component explores the use of transport documents, the responsibilities of carriers and shippers, and the liabilities involved in moving goods internationally. Additionally, the program incorporates Intellectual Property Law, highlighting how manufacturers can protect their innovations and products against unauthorized use. Students learn both the business rationale and the legal frameworks underpinning IP rights, with a focus on their practical application in international commerce.What makes this master distinctive is its exclusive concentration on commercial law.
