COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Bachelor in Public Administration and Organization at Erasmus University Rotterdam provides a comprehensive three-year curriculum designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge, analytical skills, and practical expertise needed to address complex societal challenges. In the first year, students build a solid foundation across key disciplines, including sociology, global challenges, political science, public policy, and economics. Courses such as Organisation & Management and International Law introduce students to the functioning of public institutions and the regulatory frameworks that shape policy. Alongside these core subjects, students develop essential professional skills through practical exercises integrated across all four blocks, which focus on research design, policy understanding, and critical analysis.In the second year, the program advances to applied methods and specialised topics. Students deepen their research capabilities through courses in qualitative and quantitative methods, while also engaging with policy analysis and network governance. The curriculum covers contemporary issues such as global development and international migration, as well as the allocation and management of public resources, culminating in a research project that integrates theory with empirical investigation. These courses provide the analytical and methodological tools required to evaluate complex public sector challenges and contribute to evidence-based solutions.The third year offers flexibility and opportunities for broadening academic and professional experience. In the first block, students may choose a minor, participate in an international exchange, or complete an internship, allowing them to gain interdisciplinary insights or practical exposure. The remaining blocks focus on advanced topics in governance, institutions, and organisational management, including Global & European Governance, Political Philosophy & Democracy, People Management in Complex Organisations, and Institutions, Policy & Society. The program concludes with the Bachelor Project, where students conduct independent research, applying the skills and knowledge accumulated throughout the three years. This combination of foundational learning, applied methodology, specialisation, and practical experience prepares graduates for careers in public administration, policy analysis, international organisations, or further advanced studies in the field.
