COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Business Administration (IBA) program at Rotterdam School of Management is structured across three years, each designed to build progressively deeper knowledge and skills in global business. In the first year, the curriculum is divided into five blocks, offering a comprehensive introduction to core business functions such as marketing, finance, and information management. This foundational year provides students with a broad understanding of international business administration and management, preparing them to thrive in multinational environments. A highlight of the year is the Strategic Business Plan (SBP), which gives students an early opportunity to apply their knowledge in a practical, project-based context. The second year also follows a five-block structure, with some courses extending over multiple periods to allow for in-depth study. Students engage with essential subjects such as business law, innovation management, international business, and responsible leadership, further developing their analytical and decision-making skills. A spotlight in this year is the Technology Management course, which equips students with the ability to understand and leverage technological advancements in business contexts. The final year of the program provides flexibility and the chance for students to tailor their studies to their interests while maintaining a strong international focus. In the first half of the year, students can choose from several options: an international exchange at one of RSM’s partner schools, a 14-week international internship supported by the Career Centre, an academic minor (potentially in collaboration with Leiden University or TU Delft), or a project organized by STAR, I DO, or a partner university. The second half emphasizes research skills, with compulsory advanced research methods and master classes, alongside the core course “Doing International Business the Dutch Way,” which highlights how international business interacts with the Dutch business environment. Students can also take electives and tracks to specialize further.
