COURSE CURRICULUM

The Liberal Arts & Sciences Bachelor at Erasmus University College (EUC) offers a flexible, three-year program that combines a strong academic foundation with opportunities for personalisation and interdisciplinary exploration. In the first year, students follow the Academic Core, consisting of nine courses that introduce a variety of fields of study while developing essential academic skills, research methodology, and critical thinking. In addition, students take three elective courses to explore their interests and prepare for their future major, and participate in the Personal Development Track, a full-year program that focuses on study skills, mentorship, and peer guidance. The first year also includes the Basestone Project, a foundational course designed to equip students with the knowledge and abilities necessary to develop their Bachelor thesis in the final year. At the end of the first year, students declare a major from a wide range of options, tailoring the remainder of their studies to their academic and career interests.In the second and third years, students deepen their expertise by pursuing their chosen major, which may be in Economics & Business, Humanities, Life Sciences, Social & Behavioural Sciences, or an interdepartmental field. Additional electives allow students to gain insights from disciplines outside their major, supporting an interdisciplinary approach. Opportunities to combine majors with minors—either internal to EUC or from other faculties at Erasmus University, Leiden University, or TU Delft—offer further personalisation. In the first semester of the third year, students may also choose to study abroad at one of more than 40 partner universities worldwide, broadening their global perspective. The program concludes with the Capstone Project, a Bachelor thesis in which students demonstrate mastery of a specific topic within their major, integrating knowledge and skills gained throughout the three years. This combination of academic rigour, flexibility, and interdisciplinary learning ensures graduates are well-prepared for advanced studies or diverse professional paths.
