COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Strategic Product Design (SPD) at TU Delft equips students to develop design innovations and accompanying strategies by integrating methodological rigour, theoretical knowledge, and ethical practices. The program trains students to combine tools and techniques from multiple disciplines, enabling them to understand economic and societal trends, technological developments, and the interests and interdependencies of diverse stakeholders. This holistic approach allows graduates to create solutions that are both innovative and socially responsible, addressing complex challenges in a rapidly changing world.Students learn to co-create future visions, strategies, and design value propositions from a multi-stakeholder perspective. They gain the skills to translate these strategies and visions into practical, just, and sustainable design and engineering guidelines. By applying theoretical knowledge alongside hands-on methodologies, students are able to implement solutions that are technically sound, ethically informed, and environmentally sustainable. The program emphasises the integration of design thinking and innovation strategy, preparing students to make impactful decisions in organisational and societal contexts.Leadership and collaboration are central components of SPD. Students are trained to lead innovation teams, guiding multidisciplinary groups towards successful outcomes while providing strategic input to organisations. They learn to communicate complex ideas effectively and to coordinate efforts across design, engineering, and management domains. This prepares graduates to take on key roles in product development, innovation management, and strategic design initiatives.By the end of the program, graduates are equipped to design interventions and strategies that enable organisations and their networks to thrive, while addressing pressing societal and environmental challenges. They emerge as professionals capable of integrating design, strategy, and ethical considerations into innovative solutions that create value for stakeholders, support sustainable development, and contribute to a just and technologically advanced future.
