COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s program in Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences at TU Delft spans two years, comprising 120 EC. The first year provides a domain-specific foundation, structured across three quarters of design, research, and theory courses, followed by a fourth quarter of faculty electives. These electives allow students to deepen their knowledge within their specific track or collaborate across tracks, fostering intradisciplinary learning and integration.The second year begins with a fifth quarter of outward-facing electives that are either interdisciplinary, involving multiple faculties, or transdisciplinary, developed in partnership with societal stakeholders. This prepares students to engage with complex, real-world challenges in the built environment. The final three quarters are dedicated to domain-specific graduation projects, allowing students to synthesise their acquired knowledge and skills into professional-level work within their chosen track. More detailed information on track-specific programs can be found on the respective track pages under ‘program’.Upon successful completion of the MSc program, graduates are awarded a Master of Science degree. Those completing the Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or Urbanism tracks may, after a professional traineeship (‘beroepservaringperiode’), apply for registration in the Dutch Register of Architects. This registration allows them to use the protected professional titles of Architect, Landscape Architect, or Urban Designer within the Netherlands. Graduates of the Building Technology and Management in the Built Environment tracks, as well as participants in the Post-Master program The Berlage, are not eligible for registration in the Dutch Register of Architects but still gain advanced expertise in their respective domains.The program equips students with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, integrate design, technology, and research, and develop innovative, sustainable solutions for the built environment. Graduates leave prepared for professional practice or further research, with the skills to make a meaningful contribution to architecture, urbanism, and building sciences both nationally and internationally.
