COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree enhances career prospects in public health and related fields such as epidemiology, health promotion, management, and leadership in health sectors. It develops students’ abilities to critically assess their knowledge and strengths to become effective senior officers and managers across public, private, and non-profit health organizations. The program requires students to complete six core 10 ECTS modules and one 30 ECTS dissertation/project module. Core modules include Contemporary Issues and Ethics in Public Health, which examines current public health challenges and ethical dilemmas, encouraging critical thinking and ethical decision-making through case studies and presentations. Health Research and Research Methods introduces students to qualitative and quantitative health research principles, research ethics, and effective communication of findings. Introduction to Epidemiology covers epidemiological principles, study design, data analysis, and outbreak investigation to equip students with skills for interpreting public health data. Quantitative Research Methods and Statistics in Health focuses on statistical techniques, hypothesis testing, and data analysis using software like SPSS or R, enabling students to conduct and appraise quantitative health research. The dissertation/project module requires students to design and implement an independent research project, develop a proposal, conduct literature reviews, analyze data, and present findings, fostering advanced research, critical thinking, academic writing, and communication skills. Optional modules cover areas such as Public Health for an Aging Population, Qualitative Research Methods, Health Promotion and Improvement, Advanced Epidemiology, and Leadership and Management in Health, allowing students to tailor their learning to specific interests within public health. Overall, the MPH equips students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical research experience, preparing them for leadership roles and specialized public health careers.
