COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree enhances students’ career prospects in public health and related fields such as epidemiology, health promotion, and management and leadership in health organizations. It also develops the ability to critically assess one’s knowledge, experience, and strengths to become effective senior officers and managers across public, private, and non-profit sectors. The program requires students to complete six compulsory 10 ECTS modules and one 30 ECTS dissertation/project module. Core modules include Contemporary Issues and Ethics in Public Health, which covers current challenges like health inequities, social justice, and ethical decision-making through case studies and discussions. Health Research and Research Methods introduces qualitative and quantitative research principles, including research ethics and critical appraisal of published work. Introduction to Epidemiology focuses on study design, disease measurement, data analysis, and practical applications in public health. Quantitative Research Methods and Statistics teaches statistical techniques, hypothesis testing, and data analysis using software such as SPSS, R, or Stata. The dissertation/project module involves undertaking an independent research project, developing proposals, conducting literature reviews, analyzing data, and presenting findings, fostering advanced research and communication skills. Additional specialized modules include Public Health for an Aging Population, Qualitative Research Methods in Health, Leadership and Management in Health, and Health Promotion and Health Improvement. This structure equips students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for leadership and research roles in diverse public health settings.
