COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Health, Social Care and Wellbeing program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with knowledge and skills across multiple areas of health and social care. In the first year, foundational modules introduce key concepts such as health and social care systems, person-centred and ethical practice, research methodologies, communication, professionalism, cultural competence, and the biological, psychological, and social determinants of health. Students also explore care, compassion, and wellbeing principles. The second year builds on these foundations by focusing on equality and social justice, healthy ageing, safeguarding vulnerable groups, health and social care policies, research evaluation, and mental health. The curriculum emphasizes critical understanding of inequalities, policy frameworks, and safeguarding procedures to support vulnerable populations. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics including quality evaluation and management, leadership and management within health and social care, and critical analysis of evidence, preparing them for real-world challenges. A significant component is the Final Year Project/Dissertation, where students independently research a topic of their choice, applying their accumulated knowledge and skills under academic supervision. This project fosters practical research, critical thinking, and presentation skills. Overall, the program combines theoretical learning, case studies, and practical exercises to develop students’ competencies for delivering compassionate, ethical, and effective care, while promoting equality, social justice, and wellbeing across diverse populations and healthcare settings.
