ABOUT UNIVERSITY

The Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) is a private university in Malaysia that was originally established in 1993 as the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) to address the shortage of IT professionals in the country. The institute began in Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur, offering diploma courses in computing and IT. In 1994, APIIT established cooperative links with Monash University in Australia, launching a twinning program for bachelor’s degrees in 1995, and later formed a partnership with Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom in 1996. The institution expanded rapidly, opening its Kuala Lumpur city campus in 1997, followed by international campuses in Karachi, Pakistan in 1998, Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2000, Lahore, Pakistan in 2000, Panipat, India in 2001, and Perth, Australia in 2004. In 2003, the Malaysian campus moved to Technology Park Malaysia, known as APIIT TPM, and in March 2017 it relocated within Technology Park Malaysia to Jalan Teknologi 5. The former premises now operate as APIIT Sdn Bhd, offering IT professional development courses. Over the years, APIIT developed a comprehensive curriculum and gained recognition as a SUN and Microsoft authorized training center, as well as becoming an SAP University Alliance Partner in 1998. The institute achieved university college status in 2004, changing its name to Asia Pacific University College of Technology & Innovation (UCTI), and later attained full university status, being renamed the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU). APU has since produced over 40,000 graduates, maintaining a strong focus on technology, innovation, and professional development, with fifty-one percent of its shares owned by Ekuiti Nasional Berhad. The university continues to emphasize international collaboration, academic excellence, and industry engagement, providing students with opportunities for global exposure and professional advancement in the fields of information technology, computing, and related disciplines. Its evolution reflects a commitment to adapting to technological advancements and meeting the growing demand for skilled professionals in Malaysia and abroad.
