COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Interior Design offers a comprehensive three-year curriculum that develops students’ creativity, technical expertise, and professional understanding of design. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in design methodology, basic design principles, CAD/CAM modelling, multimedia information technologies, design history and culture, foreign language studies, design semiotics, and materials science and technology. Independent study activities also encourage personal growth and creativity. This year helps students understand the fundamentals of design thinking and technical communication. In the second year, students focus on more specialized and practical aspects of interior and environmental design. They study sociology and anthropology of design to understand user behavior and cultural influences, along with innovative technologies and construction materials. The curriculum includes Interior Design 1, Environment Design 1, colour design, techniques of design communication, and advanced computer-aided design skills. These subjects help students create functional, aesthetic, and technically sound spaces. In the third year, students refine their professional and strategic abilities by studying advanced interior and environment design, enterprise performance management, project design and communication techniques, and rendering. They also continue exploring the social and cultural aspects of design. The final year includes an internship and dissertation, providing practical industry experience and academic research opportunities. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in residential, commercial, retail, and public space interior design.
