COURSE CURRICULUM

BioInnovate is designed for experienced professionals, typically with five to ten years of experience beyond academia, who come from clinical, technical, commercial, or related backgrounds and have demonstrated a passion for innovation and a track record of driving meaningful change within their roles. It is particularly suited to individuals seeking a career transition into healthcare innovation or entrepreneurship, as well as those who thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary, team-based environments. The program attracts people motivated by solving real-world healthcare challenges and making a tangible impact on patient care through practical, scalable solutions.The program is structured into three core phases: Identify, Invent, and Implement. During the Identify phase (August to November), participants begin with a four-week intensive Bootcamp introducing the Stanford Biodesign-inspired methodology, clinical problem framing, regulatory strategy, and effective team dynamics. A focused 10-day sprint builds knowledge in key clinical areas, followed by an eight-week immersive clinical placement where teams shadow clinicians, observe procedures, and engage with care teams and patients. This process typically results in the identification of 150–200 unmet clinical needs, which are systematically filtered and prioritised.In the Invent phase (November to March), participants return to campus to generate and refine solution concepts. Through structured ideation, clinical trial strategy planning, and analysis of regulatory and reimbursement pathways, teams assess the feasibility, desirability, and commercial viability of potential innovations with guidance from mentors and industry experts.The final Implement phase (March to June) focuses on prototyping, business model development, fundraising strategy, and commercial planning. The program culminates in the development of comprehensive business plans and formal pitches to venture capitalists, industry stakeholders, and healthcare leaders, preparing participants to translate innovation into real-world impact.
