COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Management & Sustainability at the University of Galway requires students to complete 90 ECTS credits in Year 1. Curriculum information relates to the current academic year and module offerings may be subject to change. Students must complete all required modules and select from a range of optional modules to achieve the total credit requirement across two semesters.In Semester 1, required modules establish the program’s foundation in responsible management and sustainability principles. Introduction to Sustainability 1 (BSS2103) provides core environmental and social sustainability concepts. Responsible Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MG5154) explores sustainable venture creation and ethical innovation. Sustainable Human Resource Management (MG5132) examines people management aligned with long-term organisational responsibility. People Management Skills (MG5157) develops practical leadership and interpersonal competencies, while Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills (MG5141) strengthens structured problem-solving and evidence-based decision-making. Optional Semester 1 modules include Sustainability Strategies Reporting and ESG (MG5158), Applied Consultancy Report (MG5137), and Internship and Applied Management Report (MG5122), allowing students to gain practical industry experience or specialise in sustainability reporting and environmental, social, and governance frameworks.In Semester 2, required modules focus on implementing sustainable transformation. Accelerating Change for Global Sustainability (MG5153) addresses systems-level change and global challenges. Transforming International Supply Chains for Sustainability and Circular Economy (MG5151) examines sustainable operations and circular business models. Leading Change and Business Transformation (MG5138) develops strategic leadership skills, and Business & Society (MG5113) explores corporate responsibility and stakeholder engagement. Optional Semester 2 modules include Green and Sustainable Finance (EC5137), Renewable Energy Economics and Policy (EC5102), European Energy Policy (EC5144), Global Issues in Agricultural, Marine and Renewable Energy Economics (EC5116), Social Marketing & Sustainability (MK5118), Project Management (MG5130), Negotiations (MK5116), and International Human Resource Management (MG5142).
