COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation is structured to provide both a deep theoretical understanding and practical experience in applying exercise for rehabilitation and chronic disease management. The program is one year full-time and carries a total of 90 ECTS credits. In the first semester, students focus on foundational knowledge with required modules including Introduction to Exercise Physiology, Integrated Physiological Responses to Exercise, Neurophysiology and Exercise, and Metabolism and Nutrition in Exercise, giving them a strong grounding in human physiology and the physiological basis of exercise. Optional modules in this semester include the Research Project and Dissertation and Placement-Based Learning, allowing students to develop independent research skills and gain real-world experience. The second semester emphasizes applied practice and rehabilitation, with required modules covering Laboratory Methods in Exercise Physiology, Rehabilitation I: Physiologic Basis of Exercise Testing and Prescription, and Rehabilitation II: Exercise in Population Health and Rehabilitation. Optional modules in this semester include Research Methods for Physiotherapists and Healthcare Professionals, Personal Training and Gym Instruction, and Community Engaged Learning and Outreach, giving students flexibility to tailor their learning to clinical, research, or community-focused pathways. Together, these modules ensure that graduates acquire the expertise to design, implement, and evaluate exercise programs for a range of clinical populations, while also developing research, analytical, and professional skills. The combination of core scientific modules, applied rehabilitation training, and optional practical or research experiences prepares students to contribute effectively in multidisciplinary healthcare teams and to advance in careers focused on exercise-based rehabilitation and management of chronic disease.
