COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Exercise Physiology and Its Application in Therapy is a 90-credit, one-year program that combines rigorous academic study with hands-on practical experience. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of human physiological responses to exercise and their application in health, rehabilitation, and disease management. Core modules include Introduction to Exercise Physiology, Integrated Physiological Responses to Exercise, Neurophysiology and Exercise, Metabolism and Nutrition in Exercise, and Laboratory Methods in Exercise Physiology, giving students the scientific foundation needed to assess fitness and design exercise programs. Rehabilitation-focused modules, Rehabilitation I: Physiologic Basis of Exercise Testing and Prescription and Rehabilitation II: Exercise in Population Health and Rehabilitation, ensure graduates can apply exercise interventions for a wide range of clinical populations and public health contexts. A significant Research Project and Dissertation develops independent research skills, allowing students to explore evidence-based practices and contribute to knowledge in exercise physiology. Optional modules, such as Personal Training and Gym Instruction, Research Methods for Physiotherapists and Healthcare Professionals, and Community Engaged Learning and Outreach, allow students to tailor their learning to professional interests, whether in clinical, community, or fitness settings. The combination of theory, applied skills, and research prepares graduates to work effectively as exercise physiologists in multidisciplinary teams, contributing to rehabilitation, chronic disease management, and health promotion. Students gain practical experience in exercise assessment, program design, and monitoring adaptations, while developing competencies in research, communication, and critical analysis. By completing this MSc, graduates acquire the expertise to bridge scientific understanding and practical application, supporting evidence-based exercise interventions that improve physical function, prevent disease, and enhance quality of life in diverse populations.
