COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Environmental Leadership is structured as a 90-credit, one-year program designed to provide graduates with the knowledge, skills, and experience required to tackle complex environmental challenges. In the first semester, students complete core modules including Environmental Problems and Solutions From Land to Sea, Environmental Leadership, Natural Resource Governance and Sustainability, Project Management, and a substantial Research Project, which together develop analytical, leadership, and project-based competencies. Alongside these required modules, students can select optional modules such as Environmental Impact Assessment, Green Lab Principles and Practice, Introduction to Development, Dynamics of Climate Change, One Health, Environmental and Human Health, Statistics for Data Science, and Research Methods for Engineers, enabling them to tailor their learning to personal interests and career goals. The second semester continues this balance of core and optional modules, with required coursework in Communicating Research and opportunities to specialise through electives such as Environmental Resilience, Climate Change and Biodiversity, Invasive Species and Biodiversity, Social Marketing and Sustainability, Geospatial Analysis and Remote Sensing, Data Analysis for Sustainability Research, Partnership Marketing, and Sustainability Planning and Policy for Marine Environments. This combination of core and elective modules ensures that graduates develop a robust understanding of environmental systems, policy, and management while acquiring transferable skills in research, communication, and project leadership. By integrating practical, research-informed, and cross-sector learning experiences, the program prepares students for careers in national and international environmental, marine, and energy sectors, providing the flexibility to address a wide range of occupational challenges. Graduates leave equipped to lead environmental initiatives, influence sustainability practices, and contribute to innovative solutions in organisations, public bodies, and research institutions, reflecting the program’s emphasis on leadership, adaptability, and impact across disciplines.
