COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Construction Innovation at the University of Galway is structured to provide students with a comprehensive blend of theory, practical skills, and applied research in construction, sustainability, and innovation. The program is designed over one or two years depending on the chosen pathway, with students completing a total of 90 ECTS credits in the full-time route. In the first year, students engage with core modules such as Modern Methods of Construction, Sustainability Planning in Construction, Digital Construction Technologies, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the Innovation Project. These modules equip students with advanced knowledge of contemporary construction methods, sustainable design principles, digital tools, and techniques for developing innovative solutions to industry challenges. Students also have the option to undertake a Research Project in Construction Innovation or a Work-Based Placement, providing opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world or industry-focused contexts. For students on a two-year pathway, the first year covers 60 credits, including all core modules, while the second year is dedicated to a 30-credit Research Project in Construction Innovation, allowing for deeper exploration of a specialized area or industry-focused problem. The curriculum emphasizes practical skills, creativity, and entrepreneurship, enabling graduates to identify unmet needs in construction, develop innovative solutions, and implement them in professional environments.
