COURSE CURRICULUM

Curriculum information relates to the current academic year and may be subject to change. Students must complete a defined number of ECTS credits by taking all required modules and selecting the appropriate optional modules to reach the total of 90 credits. A module is an examinable unit of study with lectures, tutorials, and assessments, while subjects group related modules together with their own credit requirements. Required modules are compulsory, while optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests. Most programs operate across two semesters per academic year.In Year 1 (90 credits), students complete two core requirements: Integrated Civil Engineering Design (10 credits, Semester 1) and Civil Engineering Project/Thesis (30 credits, Semester 1). The remaining credits are achieved through a wide selection of optional modules across both semesters, enabling specialisation in structural, environmental, geotechnical, transport, digital, and sustainability-focused areas.Semester 1 options include Computational Fluid Dynamics; Digital Construction Technologies; Sustainability Planning in Construction; Finite Element Methods in Engineering – Theory and Practice; Design of Sustainable Environmental System I; Applied Field Hydrogeology; Advanced Structures; Transportation Systems and Infrastructure II; Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Applications; Introduction to Sustainability 1; Planning and Law I; Fundamentals of Python Programming; and Financial Management I.Semester 2 options include Hydraulic Modelling; Timber Engineering and Design of Timber Structures; Design of Sustainable Environmental Systems II; Energy in Buildings; Project Management; Geotechnical Engineering Design; Coastal and Offshore Engineering; Earth Observation and Remote Sensing; Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Modern Methods of Construction; and Introduction to Sustainability 2.
