COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Business Analytics at University of Galway is designed for curious and ambitious individuals who want to transform complex data into meaningful, strategic decisions. It is well suited to recent graduates and early career professionals from backgrounds such as Business and Commerce, Engineering and Computer Science, Economics and Finance, and Mathematics, Physics, or Data Science. The program is ideal for those who enjoy problem-solving, working with quantitative information, and applying evidence-based insights to create measurable impact. Prior coding expertise is not required; instead, students need a solid analytical foundation and a willingness to develop new technical skills. The course particularly supports those aiming for careers in business intelligence, digital transformation, performance analytics, and data-driven strategy across rapidly evolving sectors.This full-time, one-year program is delivered over two semesters followed by a summer capstone, with students completing 90 ECTS through core modules, electives, and a major applied project. Core modules include Database Systems, Statistical Techniques for Business Analytics, Business Modelling and Analytics, Decision Theory, AI and Analytics, Data Science and Big Data Analytics, Enterprise Systems, Advanced Programming for Business, Storytelling Through Data Visualisation, Applied Analytics in Business and Society, and Philosophy of Information and Information Ethics. Elective options may include Strategic Management, Systems Development and Project Management, and Business Applications Programming.The 30-credit Major Business Analytics Project forms the capstone experience, combining research training, seminars, and applied problem-solving using real-world datasets. Students also benefit from industry engagement, with site visits to organisations such as Cisco, Microsoft, and Accenture, and guest speakers including leaders from these and other global organisations.
