COURSE CURRICULUM

The curriculum information provided relates to the current academic year and module offerings may be subject to change. To complete Year 1 of the program, students must obtain a total of 90 ECTS credits by selecting a combination of optional modules in accordance with credit requirements. Credits (ECTS) represent the workload associated with each module, and students must accumulate the defined number by choosing the appropriate mix of modules across semesters. A module is an examinable unit of study involving lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and assessments, and each module is identified by a unique code. Some programs may group modules into subjects with specific credit requirements, though students primarily select from the available optional modules to meet the total credit threshold. Most courses operate across two semesters per academic year. The curriculum offers a wide and flexible selection of modules spanning biomechanics, biomaterials, computational modelling, medical electronics, data science, and translational medicine. In Semester 1, students can choose from modules such as Advanced Computational Biomechanics, Biomechanics, Tissue Engineering, Advanced Biomaterials, Mechanobiology, Research Methods for Engineers, Project Management, Lean Systems, Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Digital Signal Processing, Bioinstrumentation Design, UX Design for Medical Devices, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Applications, Image Processing and Computer Vision, Internet of Things Systems Design, Applied Circuit Design for Medical Electronics, and Embedded Image Processing. Advanced analytical and modelling options include Finite Element Methods in Engineering (Theory and Practice), Finite Element Methods in Engineering I, Advanced Biomedical Thermodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Materials II.In Semester 2, students may select from Advanced Mechanics of Materials, Advanced Manufacturing, Biotransport, Advanced Tissue Engineering, Advanced Finite Element Methods, Stem Cells and Gene Therapy II, Translational Medicine, Graduate Course in Basic and Advanced Immunology, Human Reliability, Biomedical Engineering Design II, and Embedded Machine Vision. Additionally, substantial 30-credit options such as the Biomedical Engineering Thesis or the Medical Electronics and Digital Health Project provide opportunities for in-depth research and applied innovation.
