COURSE CURRICULUM

The curriculum information for the ME in Civil Engineering at the University of Galway relates to the current academic year and module offerings may be subject to change. To complete Year 1, students must accumulate 60 ECTS credits through an appropriate combination of optional modules. In Semester 1, options include Design of Sustainable Environmental Systems I, Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering, Integrated Civil Engineering Design (10 credits), Civil Engineering Project/Thesis (20 credits), Advanced Structures, Transportation Systems and Infrastructure II, Applied Field Hydrogeology, Planning and Law I, Financial Management I, Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Applications, and Internet of Things Systems Design.In Semester 2, students may choose from modules such as Hydraulic Modelling, Design of Sustainable Environmental Systems II, Energy in Buildings, Geotechnical Engineering Design, Project Management, Timber Engineering and Design of Timber Structures, Coastal and Offshore Engineering, Earth Observation and Remote Sensing, and Strategy.Overall, the curriculum integrates advanced technical engineering knowledge with sustainability, digital innovation, management, and strategic skills.
