COURSE CURRICULUM

The Professional Master of Education (PME) is a comprehensive, practice-based program designed to prepare students for the complexities of modern teaching. Spanning two years, the program combines rigorous academic study with extensive school-based placements to ensure that graduates develop both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise. In the first year, students engage with core modules in Educational Sciences, Professional Studies, and Professional Practice, while also selecting optional methodology courses across a wide range of subjects, including languages, sciences, mathematics, business, and the arts. This enables students to tailor their learning to the specific subjects they intend to teach. The focus on professional practice and school placement allows students to apply pedagogical theories in real classroom environments, develop classroom management skills, and gain experience in lesson planning, assessment, and inclusive teaching strategies. In the second year, the program continues to integrate academic and practical learning through advanced methodology modules, specialist teaching methods, and additional subject-specific options, while maintaining a strong emphasis on Professional Practice and school placements. Students also undertake Practitioner-Based Research, enabling them to critically investigate aspects of teaching and learning, reflect on educational practice, and contribute evidence-based improvements to school settings. The PME is designed to foster reflective and adaptable educators who are capable of responding to the diverse needs of students, implementing best practices, and engaging with contemporary educational research and policy. By the end of the program, graduates are well-prepared to enter the teaching profession with a deep understanding of pedagogy, subject-specific methods, and research-informed strategies, equipping them to make meaningful contributions to schools and the wider educational community.
