The MA in Literature and Publishing at the University of Galway requires students to complete 90 ECTS credits in Year 1. Curriculum information relates to the current academic year and module offerings may be subject to change. The program combines required core modules with a range of optional subjects, enabling students to integrate advanced literary study with practical publishing expertise. The required modules provide the academic and professional foundation of the degree. Contemporary Publishing (EN579) examines current trends, technological change, and market dynamics shaping the global book trade. Book History (EN570) situates modern publishing within the historical development of print culture, authorship, and readership. The Literature and Publishing Portfolio Project (EN6133) is a substantial practical and analytical project through which students apply their literary knowledge and publishing skills in a professional context.Students complement these core studies with optional modules aligned to their interests. Literary-focused options include Literature of North America (EN527), Environmental Literature: Nature and Narration (EN672), Literature and Colonialism (EN547), Travel Literature (EN573), Literature for Children and Young Adults in the 21st Century (EN671), and WB Yeats and the Cultural Revolution (EN6125).
