COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM in Peace Operations, Humanitarian Law, and Conflict is a one-year program designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in the fields of international law, human rights, and conflict resolution. The curriculum blends core modules with a range of optional modules, allowing students to tailor their studies to specific interests within the field. Core modules include International Peace Operations, International Human Rights Law, Transitional Justice, and a Dissertation, which together provide a strong foundation in the legal frameworks, policy considerations, and operational realities of peace and humanitarian work. Students can also choose from a wide range of optional modules covering topics such as International Humanitarian Law, Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights, International Refugee Law, Climate Justice, International Environmental Law, and Computation and Law, among others. These optional modules allow students to explore specialized areas such as child rights, gender and human rights, business and human rights, digital transformation in law, and the legal aspects of migration and asylum systems. The program combines theoretical study with practical applications, preparing graduates for careers in international organisations, NGOs, government agencies, and institutions engaged in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, human rights advocacy, and international law. Through rigorous analysis, research, and engagement with real-world legal and policy challenges, students develop the skills to operate effectively in complex international environments, contribute to policy development, and lead initiatives that promote justice, peace, and protection in conflict-affected contexts.
