COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce (Global Experience) at University of Galway is a four-year degree that combines a strong core business education with international study, work placement opportunities, and structured professional development. In Year 1, students build a solid foundation across key business disciplines, studying Introduction to Management and Financial Accounting, Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Business Information Systems and Information Management for Business, Mathematics and Statistics for Business, Contemporary Management Thought, Foundations of Marketing Thought, and Management: Enterprise and Society, while choosing one option such as Skills for Success and Business Law I, German, Spanish, or Gaeilge. Year 2 deepens business knowledge and practical skills through modules including Marketing Management, Organisational Psychology, Skills for Business, Employment Relations, Business Finance I, Information and Operations Management, and Applied Microeconomics for Business, alongside optional choices such as Introduction to Financial Economics, Business Law II, Entrepreneurial Venture Management, Information Systems and Project Management, or The Psychology of Consumer Behaviour. Year 3 is the dedicated Global Experience year, where students either combine a semester abroad with a semester of work placement in Ireland or spend a full academic year at one of over 100 partner universities worldwide, gaining valuable international perspective and professional experience. In Year 4, students complete core modules such as Business Strategy, Innovation: Creativity and Enterprise, Ireland in the Global Economy, and Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility before specialising in a chosen stream, including Accounting and Performance Measurement, Economics and Public Policy, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Digital Business and Analytics, Finance, Business Law, International Business, Enterprise, or Management.
