COURSE CURRICULUM

The MEng in Mechatronics offers a comprehensive and industry-relevant curriculum that equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in automation, robotics, and system design. The course includes a well-rounded selection of modules aimed at developing expertise in modern mechatronic systems. Students begin with modules such as Low Cost Automated Systems and Automated System Design, which focus on designing efficient and cost-effective automation solutions. These are complemented by Automation and Control and Digital Control, which build a strong foundation in controlling mechanical and electronic systems with precision and accuracy.Advanced and Emerging Manufacturing Technologies introduces students to the latest innovations in production methods, preparing them to work with cutting-edge tools and processes in the manufacturing sector. The module on 3D CAD Modelling and Machine Design develops students’ ability to design and model complex mechanical components using modern computer-aided design tools. Machine Vision explores the use of visual data in automation systems, including object recognition and defect detection.Strategic Management and Project Management in Practice provide the necessary skills for planning, organizing, and managing engineering projects and teams effectively, an essential component in leading engineering roles. System Integration focuses on the merging of different subsystems into a single functional unit, a critical skill in the development of complete mechatronic systems.The program also includes two major project-based modules: Mechatronics Project 1 and Mechatronics Project 2. These projects allow students to apply their learning in real-world scenarios, promoting hands-on experience, innovation, and problem-solving. Through these diverse modules, students gain a multidisciplinary skill set that prepares them for dynamic roles in sectors such as automation, robotics, manufacturing, and product development.
