COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences Honours Psychology at UL provides a structured progression from introductory concepts to advanced psychological study over four years. In Year 1, students are introduced to core ideas through modules such as Psychology and Everyday Life and Psychology and Social Issues, which explore how psychological principles apply to real-world behaviour and society. In Year 2, students build on this foundation with more formal training in psychological theory and research methods, alongside practical psychology modules and a cooperative education placement that provides work experience. Year 3 continues with advanced theoretical and practical study, including further training in research methods and applied psychology, as well as an opportunity to study abroad through Erasmus or exchange programs. In Year 4, students specialise in advanced topics such as personality psychology, cognition, social psychology, and applied psychology, allowing them to deepen their understanding of human behaviour and mental processes. Throughout the program, students develop strong skills in research, critical thinking, and analysis, enabling them to interpret psychological data and apply scientific approaches to human behaviour. The degree prepares graduates for further study or careers in psychology-related fields such as mental health, counselling support, research, education, and social services, where understanding individuals and groups is essential.
