COURSE CURRICULUM

The Paramedic degree program is a four-year course designed to prepare students for a professional career in emergency and pre-hospital care. In Year 1, students are introduced to the fundamentals of paramedic practice, including anatomy and physiology, pre-hospital care principles, pharmacology, emergency driving theory and practice, and early clinical placements that allow them to gain initial hands-on experience. Year 2 is primarily focused on extensive rostered clinical placements, where students rotate through real emergency care environments to develop practical skills and apply their learning in real situations under supervision. In Year 3, the academic focus deepens with advanced study of anatomy and physiology in emergency care, as well as more detailed principles of pre-hospital emergency care, building stronger clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities. Year 4 concentrates on professional development and leadership within paramedic practice, along with research-focused modules such as emergent care research, population health, and a research proposal in pre-hospital care. Students also develop skills in mentorship and education, preparing them for senior roles in the field. Overall, the program combines scientific knowledge, clinical practice, and professional development to produce competent, confident paramedics capable of working effectively in high-pressure emergency healthcare settings.
