COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc in Exercise and Health Fitness Management is a four-year honours degree designed to prepare students for careers in the fitness, health, and wellness industry. It combines practical training, academic study, and business education to develop well-rounded professionals. In the first two years, students focus on building core practical skills and earning industry-recognised certifications aligned with Irish and European standards. They complete training in areas such as advanced personal training, allowing them to design and deliver exercise programs for different clients. In Year 2, students choose a specialised pathway, which may include strength and conditioning, Pilates and corrective exercise, chronic disease management, lifestyle coaching, children’s physical activity, older adult fitness, or facility operations. The third year shifts toward business knowledge, research skills, and professional development, supported by a cooperative work placement that provides real-world industry experience and networking opportunities. In the final year, students focus on leadership, entrepreneurship, and management skills through modules in financial management, marketing, human resources, health promotion, event management, and working with diverse populations. The program is delivered by experts from multiple faculties and industry professionals. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles, business ownership, and specialist positions within the growing fitness and health sector.
