COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security and IT Forensics at UL is a structured program that develops strong technical, analytical, and security-focused skills to prepare students for careers in protecting digital systems and investigating cybercrime. In Year 1, students build core computing foundations through modules in programming, software development, computer science principles, discrete mathematics, computer organisation, and system modelling, along with introductory game design concepts. Year 2 introduces more specialised areas such as operating systems, computer networks, next-generation networking, cryptography, data security, cloud computing, web and database technologies, and mobile app development, along with an emphasis on sustainability in technology. In Year 3, students gain real-world experience through cooperative education placements while also studying embedded software, converged networks, cybersecurity law and regulations, distributed computing, and laboratory-based applied learning. Year 4 focuses on advanced and applied topics including machine learning for data engineering, biometrics, OT/ICS networks and security, software engineering, log analysis, cloud computing, and host and network security. Students also complete major final-year projects that integrate their learning. Overall, the program combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills in networking, cryptography, forensic analysis, and secure system design, preparing graduates for roles in cybersecurity, digital forensics, network protection, and IT security management in a highly connected digital world.
